Balbhavan is not only an institution, it is a vision. This vision took shape in 1956. The foundation stone of Balbhavan was laid by Late Indira Gandhi in the presence of the first Prime Minister of India, Shri Jawaharlal Nehru. Pandit Nehruji always took a keen interest in the development of the activities of Balbhavan and had visited it thrice. He also gifted a baby train for children. Balbhavan was inaugurated by former Prime Minister Shri Morarjibhai Desai in 1957.
These three visionaries associated themselves with Balbhavan to serve the noble cause for which it was established. Balbhavan has become a perfect blend of innovation, intelligence and co-ordination. It is a garland made of many flowers of various colours and fragrances in order to achieve the common aim of adorning the picture of tomorrow’s citizen whose thoughts and actions would reflect virtues like kindness, truth, justice, peace and love.
Balbhavan is managed by Registered Public Charitable Trust.
The activities of Balbhavan have had the advantage of a number of people out of which some need a special mention whose contributions have been unique. Late Shri Chimanlal Nagardas Shah, Late Shri Champakbhai Vora, Late Shri Kanubhai Acharya, Late Shri Labhubhai Trivedi, Late Shri Harkantbhai Manek are those who gave a lifetime contribution to Balbhavan. In the first fifty years, thousands of children have shone at state level and national level.
